During the closing few minutes of the Everett City Council meeting last night, the Council gave unanimous approval for the purchase of four parcels that will unlock state funds for the city’s Outdoor Events Center (OEC).

On April 29th this year, the Council authorized the mayor to sign all necessary documents to access the $7.4 million grant from the State Department of Commerce, enabling progress in the property acquisition stage. The goal of the project, with a forecast completion in the winter of next year, is a multi-purpose facility in downtown Everett that can accommodate both professional baseball and professional soccer, as well as other special events such as concerts.

The City Council specifically approved the purchase of four properties, consisting of Parcels 1, 2, 3, and 5, which would draw $6.2 million of the total $7.4 million state grant.

No public comments were submitted during the council meeting on this topic.
