After the March, April, and May Design Review Board (DRB) Regular Meeting were canceled, the June meeting was held on Wednesday night and concluded after 15 minutes.
In-person board member attendees included Joelle Blair (chair), Shin Goto, and Charlie Krabach. Although the meeting opened the floor to public comment outside of the meeting agenda, no comments or issues were raised.
Following the previous meeting’s approval of minutes, member Krabach presented the only open action item: the proposed restoration and addition to the home at 57 Maple Avenue.
In keeping with the DRB’s purpose of “protecting investment in rehabilitation and restoration of historic structures,” the DRB staff had previously reviewed architect Alexander Litvinov’s proposed restoration and addition plans for the 1910 two-story Folk Victorian-style home, and determined that the project would not significantly alter the historic appearance of the street-facing facade and otherwise met the applicable design standards.
The public comment portion of the meeting included inquiries about the proposed plans for cornice, windows, and fascia. The development team confirmed that the plan would match the original Victorian styling, with many of the original home’s elements retained and incorporated later.
Board member Krabach applauded the homeowners and development team on their efforts to restore the home rather than tear it down, given its state of disrepair.
